Five days, thousands of pizzas and two very busy NDC staff – BBC Good Food Show Winter!
The BBC Good Food show is one of our annual highlights, and although we’ve pitched up our NDC stand twice before and been rushed off our feet, we packed more into the Winter 2012 show than ever before! Usually we’re a pretty hectic stand, with live pizza making demos, cooking and sampling, as well as selling our delicious dough for pizza fans to take home and create themselves. This year, as well as all the usual fun, we fitted in a full day’s filming (for some exciting mini-documentaries we’re hoping to make), launched our new product, Wholemeal Pizza Dough and managed to get NDC on stage with non other than (fabulous celeb chef) Brian Turner OBE in a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ challenge. Not sure what we’re beaming about the most!
As always, we met some fantastic new producers who share our passion for great British food, and who kept us going throughout the show with fun, laughs and of course samples of their produce. Special mention goes to Pig & Co, makers of wonderful rare breed sausages with brilliant names including ‘hey pesto’ and ‘blankets in pigs’ who rear all their own pigs to wonderfully high standards at their farm in Goostrey, Cheshire. Anyone who knows NDC’s Amy knows she’s a huge fan of pigs, so is hoping for a trip to the farm to have a run around in the mud with the little squealers once everyone’s recovered from the show. Another mention has to go to Bendylegs Granola, who share our passion for food being 100% natural and make all their healthy breakfast treats by hand in Wales. Without both fantastic companies, breakfast time at the show wouldn’t have been half so much fun!
