Huge thanks to everyone who came along to Clitheroe Food Festival yesterday, it was great to meet you all, and fantastic to hear such an overwhelmingly positive response to our Pizza Dough – its fair to say you loved it! Comments and feedback are already pouring in via our website and through Facebook and Twitter to tell us how much you enjoyed both the experience of making your own pizza and the taste of the finished product, and you’re already asking for more! Here’s a little snapshot of what we got up to yesterday, from setting up, to selling out (twice!)…..
After a drizzly start (and a quick anti-rain dance, which seemed to do the trick), the clouds cleared and a lovely warm day set in. Helped along by some warm coffees and a croissant, the stand build quickly took shape, and we were ready to launch The Northern Dough Co!
The official show start time was 11am, but it seemed the festival foodies were raring to go, and our first packs of dough balls were disappearing into shopping bags by 10.30.
There were samples galore – first to make an appearance on the wooden sample boards was our classic Original pizza dough, topped with juicy tomato passata and fresh mozzarella cheese with just a couple of dots of balsamic onion jam for a touch of sweetness. It was quickly followed (and needed to be, as sample number one disappeared in seconds…) by a pine-nut, sultana and red onion with goat’s cheese pizza, on our fiery Chilli dough – which was similarly devoured by people shouting ‘pizza for breakfast – delicious!’.
By 11am, the stand was packed with people, all eagerly digging into the pizza samples and filling their bags with boxes of our dough to take home. We thought a clear favourite would emerge from our three flavours, Original, Chilli and Rosemary, but they seemed equally popular, with many people opting to try all three as all our dough can be stored in the freezer for up to six months (although its doubtful whether it will last that long before being eaten!).
By 3.30, we were completely out of stock for a second (and unfortunately final) time, but will be restocking and will have even more dough to sell at Liverpool Food Festival on the 3rd and 4th September. And as a follower of The Northern Dough Co, we have a special offer for you for this show – 25% off tickets through their website, making entry just £3.
