The Northern Dough Co reflects on national supermarket award win

We recently scooped ‘best up and coming brand’ at the Sainsbury’s Magazine Awards! To be nominated by the future brands team at Sainsbury’s, who’s job it is to champion small brands in the retailer, was a huge boost, but to win was beyond our imagination! There were more than a few happy tears on the night!

So many of our fantastic and hugely supportive customers took the time to cast their vote, and we are incredibly grateful for continuing to champion our company and products.

The awards celebrated the very best food and drink brands the supermarket has to offer, with brands including Ben & Jerry’s, Heck and McCain also picking up their prize. The winners were determined by public vote, with a phenomenal response of over 10,000 people registering an online or postal vote.

We were presented with our award by comedian and ‘Mock the Week’ favourite, Lucy Porter, at a glamorous ceremony at London’s Ham Yard Hotel, who was warm and hilarious in equal measures.

Amy Cheadle, co-owner at the Northern Dough Co, said: “Both the team at Sainsbury’s who nominated us for the award, and everyone at Sainsbury’s Magazine who brought the awards to life have been so incredibly supportive, we simply can’t thank them enough for getting behind our vision to get people into the kitchen to get hands-on with food, and champion our brand. To be able to say the sentence ‘we’re officially the best up and coming brand’ in Sainsbury’s’, voted for by shoppers is just the most unbelievable feeling.”

Chris Cheadle, co-owner commented: “The fact that 10,000 people took the time to vote for these awards is overwhelming in itself, and we’re so grateful for absolutely everyone who got behind us and helped us secure the win.

“Our customers have always been fantastic, we love how much they share our passion for fantastic food, and the award will help us reach even more of them with our story, it’s a really exciting time for us.”

Taking a national award win into 2019 gives us great confidence as we continue to build our brand and take it to the next level. We’ll be putting resources into product development and securing further reasons to be excited by the power of frozen produce, and how it can encourage them to get hands on to create delicious food at home with their friends and family.

We look forward to you all being part of the next chapter
